"Planted bulbs in container, because I had read that they often don't bloom their first year, and I wanted to be able to bring them inside in winter. A week of 65F days (50F nights) and one stem shot up and formed a huge beautiful flower. The next day the 2nd bulb had a 6"" stem and bud, the 3rd was showing a new sprout, and the first had a 2nd flower stem starting up. Had to bring them inside (photo) for a few days of mid-June snow, but I'm looking forward to impressing the neighbors with these beautiful flowers."
Bold red blooms and bright green strap-like foliage are highlights of the Aztec lily. With spectacular blooms, they make a lovely container plant. Spring blooming and may re-bloom. Cold hardy in zones 8-10.
