How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
High Country Gardens is known for our fantastic Agastache offerings, and our Best In Show Agastache Collection includes five cultivars introduced by our founder, David Salman. He was passionate about Agastache plants,
“They have everything I love in a perennial: aromatic flowers and foliage, stunning spikes of tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, they bloom in summer and fall, extending the seasons of color in my xeriscapes, and they are North American native plants.”
Hummingbird Mints, as their name suggests, are very attractive to hummingbirds. With so many varieties of colorful Agastache plants in bloom from early summer through fall, you'll invite hummingbirds to call your garden home. "These will bring the pollinators and humming birds to your garden, which makes me very happy."
"All plants in the collection arrived in good condition. They started growing as soon as planted, including the one shipped in dormancy. I followed recommendations by planting each on a small mound of soil that I partially amended with cactus mixture for drainage and topped with a light layer of gravel. Surprisingly, Rosita has started flowering already. It's only mid-April! Hoping they continue to thrive when our brutally hot, often drought-filled Central Texas summer arrives."
"For some reason none of my plants I planted did not come back in Centennial Colorado. I have grown them in La Veta Co and in Eureka Springs Ar. They always came back . Just can't figure out why . It's got me baffled. I have planted many varieties . My favorite plant for Hummingbirds. Dose any body have any idea why . They are the best plants for hummingbirds."
"When these little sprouts arrives I thought there was no chance they'd actually make it, but I was wrong! Every one took root and grew into healthy plants. I planted in a newly made bed that didn't have excellent soil, highly alkaline, and unshaded. They were happy anyway! I added good compost and a bit of fertilizer and they took off! Great stock! I think they'll be even better next year."
"We have had the luxury to watch two baby hummingbirds grow in the nest outside our kitchen window. We discovered the nest about three weeks ago in a large blue spruce. Mom visits the agastache plants regularly. My husband and I watch and note their progress daily. What a treat!"
