Based on our exclusive Watershed Wise Pre-Planned Garden, this curated garden built for large spaces can help you play a part in managing watersheds essential for ecosystem health. With beautiful, easy-to-grow native plants, our Large Watershed Wise Pre-Planned Garden features deep-rooted varieties that are resilient and can tolerate long periods of drought, as well as wetter conditions when the rain does fall; their deep roots also help improve soil health and filter out pollutants. Not only are they beautiful, but the flowers and grasses provide food and habitat to support pollinators and wildlife, too.
Note: Watershed gardens capture rainwater as it runs off hard surfaces at home, like a roof, sidewalk, or driveway, so it can filter down through healthy soil instead of picking up pollution on its way downstream. Plant this garden in a shallow swale – a depressed area – about 6-8” deep, with sloped edges and a flat bottom, to ensure that you capture water when it rains. See our guide for more details, and tips on planting your watershed garden: Watershed Wise Gardening.
