How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Our exclusive Mountain Shadows Bearded Iris Collection was curated to transport you to that magical moment just after the sun has dipped below the towering mountain peaks, casting a spellbinding twilight glow. Delight in the array of colors, ranging from pure white to the soothing tones of periwinkle, deepening into rich purple and near-black hues. Comprising five distinct varieties, these Bearded Irises not only captivate with their beauty but also thrive in challenging conditions, boasting resilience against drought and browsing deer and rabbits.
Our Mountain Shadows Bearded Iris Collection features the following selections:
Easy to grow Bearded Irises thrive in sunny spots with good drainage. Keep the top of the rhizomes exposed or even with the top of the soil. Once established, Bearded Irises are drought-tolerant, deer and rabbit resistant, and will spread and multiply when happy. Once flowers have faded, this versatile plant’s eye-catching vertical foliage will continue to enhance the perennial garden. Plant with ornamental grasses and other water-thrifty late spring bloomers such as Allium and Oriental Poppies. Lavender, Gaillardia, Echinacea, and Salvia will benefit from the striking foliage as a backdrop.

"Love this collection definitely going to need a few more! The colors are so vibrant and beautiful."
"I've always gotten Iris corms from well known well advertised (and expensive) suppliers, such as Shreiners, Holland Bulbs, etc. I stumbled on High Country Gardens during a Google search--It's not well known here in Michigan. But I loved the mountain shadows collection and it was very reasonably priced. It was already mid-november but I thought I would take a gamble on the company. I knew that only the healthiest bulbs could survive. There were six varieties in the collection last year and despite having gardened a lot in my life, planting bearded iris and getting the corms just right is definitely one of my weak points. There were six varieties in the collection last year. Only one plant didn't make it which amazed me. The others are all extremely healthy first year Iris and those that bloomed already have colors true to the photograph. The failure of the other one may well have been my fault. High Country Gardens obviously sent me good quality, healthy bulbs for which I am grateful. They managed to overcome quite a number of potential difficulties and several are blooming their first year. And the price was unbeatable. I can't praise this company enough. Trust me, when it's time to look for bulbs this year high Country Gardens will be my first choice."
