Most red-flowering Epilobium are either early-blooming, low-growing mat-forming groundcovers or upright, very late-blooming perennials that flower just as frost brings the season to a close. Unforgettable™ Hummingbird Trumpet is a new introduction from plantswoman Lauren Springer that combines the best qualities of both groups. True to its name, Unforgettable™ blankets itself in hundreds of extra-large, fiery red tubular flowers that will have migrating hummingbirds squabbling over the first pick of its nectar.
This last-taste-of-summer is also notably more cold-hardy than typical Hummingbird Trumpet selections, with trials proving it is hardy to Zone 4. Though both drought-tolerant and exceptionally cold-hardy once established, Unforgettable™ settles in most quickly and flowers most enthusiastically when spring planted in soil with moderate moisture or occasional irrigation.

"I can't speak to this new product yet, but the hummingbird trumpet I purchased from High Country Gardens 8 years ago is one of my most reliable and easy-care flowering plants. Being on the front corner of my yard, people walking by frequently ask about it. I'm in Zone 7a, it thrives in hot dry climate and full sun. Can't wait to plant this new one!"
