Description

A robust, low-growing perennial from the highlands of South Africa, 'Avalanche Sun' Daisy won recognition from Plant Select™ in 2011 for its tough and floriferous nature. This pure white flowering Sun Daisy is easier to grow and more cold-hardy than its cousins and fills out quickly to full size. This cultivar develops into a sizeable clump of rich green, oblong leaves with pointed tips beneath dozens of elegant, daisy-like flowers in early summer. Three tips for success with Sun Daisies: (1) spring plant these South African beauties to allow lots of time for them to establish strong root systems before winter, (2) grow these heavy feeders in a compost-amended soil that receives deep, occasional irrigation, and (3) avoid soils that sit wet for extended periods in winter or spring.
