How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Cherry Skullcap (Scutellaria suffrutescens) is a long blooming native species that covers itself with small rose-pink flowers from late spring into mid-summer. The plant has a tidy mounding habit that makes it a wonderful perennial for the front of the garden or along the edge of paths and patios. A xeric native of northern Mexico, plant it in fast draining soils where it gets plenty of sun and heat. It makes a great companion plant other water-thrifty (xeric) species like Ultra Violet Sage (Salvia), Moonshine Yarrow (Achillea) and Sundancer Daisy (Hymenoxys).
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (801) 769-0300 or contact us by email or chat.

"Planted it out right away and off it took, looking great and growing well. Looking forward to seeing the blooms."
"These little guys were small on top when they arrived, but their impressive root systems have allowed them to take off on top growth in just a few short weeks. With consistently warmer weather they'll be blooming in no time. You guys never fail to impress me with your quality products and customer service."
"I grow this plant in my garden in Las Cruces, NM (Z8b) as well as my mountain rock garden in High Rolls, NM (z7). Fantastic in both locations in full sun. Bloom from mid-spring until it gets hot, though the bloom can be pushed a little with careful watering. Fantastic plant."
"This is a really tough plant and constantly has cherry red blooms. It starts small, but tolerates our intense afternoon sun with enough water. Kept blooming into late summer. We'll see how the second season goes, but I was impressed enough to buy more to expand the presence on my rock wall."
