Salvia sylvestris 'Blue Hill' is a superb selection grown for its late spring display of clear blue flowers held over sturdy compact mounds of green foliage. It is extremely cold hardy, resistant to browsing deer and rabbits and loves heavy clay soils. Drought resistant/drought tolerant plant (xeric).

Still very small but arrived

"Still very small but arrived alive and monarch plants have broken the surface of the ground. Very happy"

"Timely shipment for my zone and pants were happy and healthy"

As advertised

"Planted this High Country Gardens seedling in spring 2024 and the photo shows the plant one year later in mid-May 2025. At the time the photo was taken, the Salvia measured 32 inches wide by 20 inches tall. It is thriving in heavy clay in western Colorado. I amended the clay in the planting hole with some organic material, but did nothing else. I live in a high desert climate, so I do give it some supplemental water occasionally. This Salvia is essentially care-free and has as exceeded my expectations - a tough and reliable plant."

Very pleased with Blue Hill Salvia

"I bought these plants for a flower bed in my backyard. The plants arrived in good condition. They are still healthy a now have little blooms on them. Very pleased!"

Long bloomer. Really delivers

"I planted this plant late fall of '23, so with our mild AR winters, it had lots of time to establish a good root system. It started blooming in May '24, and is still going strong July 30th. I purchase another one in Spring '24 and that is doing well too. We have harsh, drought stricken southern summers, and this plant is VERY drought tolerant. I also live next to a woods, and have heavy deer browse pressure on my plants, but they do not touch this one. The color is fantastic and I have seen many bees, a hummingbird and a hummingbird moth frequenting this plant. I love the small size. I have mostly a native plant garden, and although this plant is not native to AR, it is nice to have something blooming so regularly, while my native plants are in between blooming periods. I can't say enough good things! I love it. Looks fantastic next to my rose vervain."

Healthy Salvia Color Addition

"I've had good success with other types of salvia in my backyard in raised containers that are of the red/pink varieties and I wanted to add some variation to them with this Blue Hill variety. After a month in the ground, it is already getting ready to bloom. It arrived healthy and in great condition and the timing with the zone (8b in my case) for shipment was perfect. It's going to put on a spectacular show with several stalks preparing to make their debut. #sweepstakes"

You can't go wrong with salvia!

"We have several varieties of salvia in our yard. They are so hard and will repeat bloom if deadheaded."
