8" tall x 8-10" wide (seed propagated). This beautiful, small growing species is native to the open Ponderosa forests and foothills of eastern CO and WY. The dainty spikes of blue, lavender-throated flowers are held over evergreen rosettes of dark green foliage and are a delight in the late spring garden. Most effective in groups of three or more. Really nice placed alongside yellow-flowered wildflowers like Eriogonum 'Shasta Sulfur'. Plant in lean, well-drained soil.

"This plant was received very healthy, until a neighbor cat decided to dig it up and use freshly dug soil as a litter box! I'm hoping it will make it, after re-planting it. Dead on top, but hopefully the roots will re-establish. All other plants are doing WONDERFUL! Spring shipment of all plants arrived very healthy."
"Good plant, very drought tolerant, blooms a little earlier than most my other Penstemons-usually mid spring. Ordered this species twice and the only questionable thing is how they arrive(second time most were really rough, most recovered but a couple died). Short in size, good for a rock garden, front of dry border, or intermixed with other low growing perennials and grasses. Blooms year 2, can be short lived, but will reseed in gravelly, cooler, conditions."
