Description

28-32" tall x 24" wide (seed propagated). This rarely available variety brings a unique color to the late spring garden with its large black-eyed, light coral-pink flowers. A strong, long-lived plant, 'Coral Reef' is more of a coral-pink color than salmon-pink 'Princess Louise'. But, hey, grow them both. 'Coral Reef' is a great choice for those gardeners who appreciate unusually colored poppies.

"I have two of these (started with three but they got so big I had to pull one out to give room for the other two to thrive). These are absolutely loaded with buds. At least 50 on each plant. In their third year. The color appears slightly different depending on the light at certain times of day. But it is definitely not pastel pink like the website photo shows. It's salmon/coral all the way. I have to support these because they are so big and dense that they will flop when the foliage starts to die back and I hate the mess. Planted them to use as cut flowers, but honestly I leave most on the plant because they tend to pop in the yard and draw the eye. Like little spots of neon. That's how vivid the color is."

2 plants, 1 yard, 1 bloom!

"I purchased 2 poppy plants and planted them in 2 separate areas of my front yard garden. It is generally north facing, but I live at 7000 feet, high desert. Relatively similar light types. One plant was more exposed in the garden bed. The other had protection from a small lilac plant next to it. I planted them last October. In the Spring, the exposed bed plant did not come up. The plant next to the lilac came up, twice the size from when it was planted, and had one bloom! It is doing very well. The color was so beautiful; pastel peachy pink."

better than i could have imagined

"wow. wow. wow. i'm so impressed. I received healthy/thriving little plants in a tiny pot in Fall of 2021. Didn't plant them until November 2021, but managed to keep them alive few weeks and weeks in their pot while we created new flower beds. (These were so much better than all the bare roots from other online stores. All of the bare roots are dead. I'll never order bare root again). I'm including photos of the incredible amount of growth in just 7 months times. I never expected to have blooms this year. I purchased 3 plants. Each one already has 5-8 stems. and the flower is massive with thick, sturdy stems. Great for cutting and creating a bouquet. Just wow. The color in my zone 5 is not pastel pink though. It's the exact same rich salmon color as my established ""princess victoria Louise"" poppies. But those are wimps compared to the stems of these giants. I may be ripping them out because ""coral reef"" from high country gardens are just so much better in every way."

60+ buds- love this plant!

"I bought three of these and unfortunately, two died. Last year the surviving plant (1 yr old) had between 8-10 beautiful flowers. However, this year the plant is huge and has 60+ buds. Holy cow it is amazing! Everyone on my street is saying how beautiful it is. I haven't noticed that the bees care much for it but I have other options for them. I am having to tie it up for support as it tends to fall out. Absolutely love this plant!"
