Early bloomer
"These early flowers fill in the spots that my ornamental grasses and coneflowers usually cover. After they bloom, all trace of them blows away. In my garden, it's nice to have plants in those areas that are otherwise bare in spring."

"Sprouted nicely and bloomed earlier than most things. Looking forward to next year."
The daisy-shaped flowers of Anemone blanda offer cheerful blooms
in early spring. Known commonly as windflowers, these wildflowers are native to
Greece and adapt readily to dry climates in the United States, particularly the
desert southwest. Plants prefer well-drained soil and will naturalize by both
self-seeding and by tuberous rhizomes. If you want to pick anemone flowers,
sear the stem ends in boiling water for 15 seconds and they'll hold their
petals longer. Well suited to containers, transfer to the garden in fall.
