Iris germanica ‘Gotham’ (Tall Bearded Iris) was named after the iconic metropolis due to its bold and mysterious appearance. Just as the cityscape of Gotham is known for its dark and imposing architecture, the iris exhibits a smoky, ghostly hue in its standards, reminiscent of the city's shadowy skyline.
Plant 'Gotham’ in a sunny location with good drainage in groups of three or more for maximum impact, keeping the rhizomes exposed or level with the soil surface.
Reblooming bearded irises produce flowers multiple times throughout the growing season, providing continuous color and interest in the waterwise garden. Plant them in mixed borders and rock gardens, use as focal points in foundation plantings, or grow them in containers for patio displays. Once established, Bearded Irises are drought-tolerant, deer resistant, and rabbit resistant, and will spread and multiply when happy.
