Iris germanica 'Butterlicious' (Tall Bearded Iris) has radiant buttery-yellow flowers that are perfect for adding a pop of color to flower beds and along borders where its height can be fully appreciated. 'Butterlicious' has big, ruffled petals that emit a gentle fragrance in late spring to summer, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Deer and rabbit resistant, this easy-care Bearded Iris will bring a smile to visitors.
Plant in well-draining soil in a sunny spot with the tops of the rhizomes even with the soil level. Keep moist until established but be careful not to over water. Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to encourage strong growth and lots of flowers, but don’t overdo it as too much fertilizer can lead to weak growth. Deadhead spent blooms to keep the plant looking tidy and encourage more flowers, and trim the foliage back to about 3-4 inches above the ground in late summer.
