"I can't wait to see the flowers in the next year."
"This little guy didn't bloom this year, but got some nice leaves started. I'm still hoping to see him next spring. This was its first spring. In my experience, irises take a little time to grow a bit, but by the 2nd or 3rd year they take off and look out! Just about everything I've purchased from this company has come through for me, so I have faith I'll get to enjoy this little beauty next year."
"GREAT for viewing in the garden, REALLY GREAT for my art work—arrangements, ""watercolor"" use of juices, photography."
Before The Storm' Fragrant Bearded Iris is often called “the darkest of the dark” for good reason. Its almost pure black flowers are tinted with bronze-purple, like a raven’s wing. Sweetly fragrant, it is a profuse bloomer with up to 12 buds per stem, giving it a long blooming period. Awards include the Dykes Medal (1996), the top award for all classes of Iris, and the Award of Merit. At a height of 35-39" tall, its potential is unlimited. Plant 'Before The Storm' in the back of a perennial bed to create a dramatic backdrop, or plant as a focal point near an entrance or outdoor living space. Elegant with ornamental grasses and colorful perennials alike. Plant it in a full sun location in enriched garden soil with good drainage. Plant in groups of three for best effect, 12-24" apart. Keep soil moist as the plant establishes, thereafter this is a drought-tolerant, easy-to-grow perennial. Cut flowers lasting 3-7 days; for best results, harvest when buds have fully emerged and are showing color. A pollinator favorite, it’s deer and rabbit resistant too.
