2nd time is the charm
"I lost a few the first time around. I planted more about 5 years ago and now they put on a stunning display. This fall while scratching around to find space for another plant, I discovered that my originals have now produced dozens of ""pups"" which were pushing up to the soil level. They were easily teased out and apart and shared with friends. I think the first time I overestimated just how much drought they could take. This time they are planted in a soil with a decent amount of clay and they have thrived, BUT it is on a slope and in Colorado where we get tons of sun and little rain and light snow, so they are never soggy. (total 15"" of annual precip) Oh and if you have deer, these are great; no browsing at all!"
