Impressed

"Arrived in good condition. Left in planter for like two weeks. Finally planted them into dense clay soil with a dusting of earthworm castings, in an area that gets full sun all day long. By the time I planted them, the leaves were browning. They were destined to fail. I'm the winter, they were mere twigs. When spring rolled around, we were sure they didn't make it. I'm happy to report that these resilient plants are growing nice and strong with many green leaves. This plant is very forgiving. I'm worried I planted them too close to each other. I guess we'll see what happens."

Sumac

"In my flower bed. I have planted with hopes of it growing to full size there"

Berries in Year 5

"I am blocking an unpleasant view with my row of three-leaf sumac bushes. In year five, they are 5-7 feet tall, survive both drought and flood, full hot summer sun in zone 6, and they had the most adorable berries. No berries till year five for me. Glad I waited. The quail love these - we have quail every day."

I have 2 to plant / waiting for rain. Love them.

"I'm hoping for beautiful foliage and berries for the birds. Plus as a natural dyer I will be able to use some branches for tannin."

Growing slowly

"One of the three arrived a little shaky. All three survived several days of late spring freeze. They are all over 1' tall now, but I was hoping to see them a little larger at this point. Still, this is a long slow growing native shrub so I believe it is doing well."

Hardy

"Was little more than a stick when planted and forgot all about it. It came alive and has been thriving with little extra water through this extreme heat."

MJ (4/5)

doing great with little care in my Denver yard

"the one I bought four years ago was full size by last summer. bought another last spring that has grown appreciably but should take off this summer, based on the other. I've watered, but not a ton."
