Adds height to flower beds.

"I planted these in a flower bed that receives the harsh Texas afternoon sun. They took 2 summers to establish their roots but they really put on a show during the 3rd summer. They grew almost 5-feet tall; I cut them back after their blooms faded and they bloomed again in the fall. I recently purchased more to add more height to the flower garden."

Better than I thought

"Growing these way further west than they occur naturally. They arrived looking poor and thought they wouldn't make it, but 3/4 survived. I figured these would be thirsty even though I always see guides for this species say, ""Dry"" soil, but dry conditions in Wyoming is way different than dry conditions in Missouri. I definitely gave them some supplemental water in their first full year after planting the previous fall, but not frequently. Never seemed to look drought stressed, but all three plants are less than 20"" tall(which is fine be me), where I've seen these get massive in more mesic situations."

Get ready for the blazing fireworks !

"A few years bac we purchased some Liatris from HCG as an experiment in a section of a garden. The old adage of Sleep / Creep / Leap has held us captive to watch how beautiful the Rough Blazing Star blooms are as they announce the end of summer. Since the blooms start at the top and last bud to grow we're never quite sure when the ""kaboom' will happen but when it does the color explosion of the blazing star is delights us, our neighbors and every butterfly on its trek south. While the stems with blooms are 3'-4' long, the blooming stems are on top of the plant stalks so the final height of our beauty is between 6'-7'. This makes this a perfect plant for the background or inside corner of a garden."

Slow, but steady grower

"The first plant I received was small and died within several days. HC replaced it and the new plant is doing very well. It has many potential flowers, but hasn't shown its colors yet (mid summer)."

RRZ (4/5)

Slow, but continuous.

"The first plant I received was nearly destroyed during shipping and died within several days after planting. HC sent a replacement and it is growing slowly, but strong and continuous. Every week it looks better. It has several blooms now and I am eager t o see it in bloom."

They are tough

"They are planted in an area where deer walk through, one got stepped on and I thought it was history, but I put a stake by it and it came back up, yay! They aren't very big yet so don't know much about them yet."

Diane (4/5)

Still young

"It has been a challenging year to plant with temperatures 10 to 20 degrees higher than normal, low humidity and wind, and a drought. I hope the plants can establish themselves and grow bigger next year."

Waiting for first bloom. . . . it is Nebraska

"All products purchased from SFG have been superior to nurseries here. Any item that has not worked have been immediatelly replaced."
