36" tall x 15" wide. Meadow Blazing Star (Liatris ligulistylus) is a long grass prairie native, and a larger and showier species than Liatris punctata (native to more arid western grasslands). A robust grower at its best in fertile loam with infrequent but deep soakings once established. Meadow Blazing Star is an excellent butterfly beacon that brightens the late summer/early fall garden with its lavender-purple flower spikes. (Seed propagated.)

"I really love this plant and so do my Monarchs. I ordered 4 and one is not growing at all. 3 are doing great. What should I do Do you replace it? I ordered them last year also and haven't seen them back up!"

"I bought quite a few. Some thrived and some struggled. I am waiting for spring to see how many of them survive the winter. I am somewhat worried that the corms may rot. The plant is a beautiful butterfly magnet and if they survive the spring and start showing signs of spreading I will start this plant in more areas of my garden. Grade: to be determined."
"This is a beautiful species of liatris that I ordered to help attract Monarchs to my Boston area garden, and sure enough, we had several Monarchs residing in our garden most of the summer. It bloomed a bit earlier than expected, and a couple of the plants got taller than expected (7 ft!)--so they made quite a statement. This plant and milkweed make the butterflies happy."
"Planting in mind of birds and pollinators. This is an exceptional plant for attracting Monarch butterflies. Have planted milkweed about two feet away. Actually found a chrysalis on the siding of the house. Never saw the butterfly emerge, but the open, clear chrysalis told my husband and I that we helped just a little to keep these beauties alive and hopefully populating the earth."
