This re-blooming native gem fills a split rail fence in our nursery where it draws many complementary remarks from customers for its extravagant summer-long floral display. The unscented flowers are very showy with an orange-red exterior and yellow-orange throat. The hummingbirds love it! Plant it in a compost-rich, moisture retentive soil. Provide afternoon shade in areas with very hot summers.

"I bought three of these 11 years ago. I planted them in places I thought would be appropriate for their ecology. I found the right place for one of them. It has a 1/2"" woody trunk now, and sends out blooms each spring, late May. This is the best native honeysuckle in Utah. A perfect treat for early arriving and migratory hummingbirds. Not a plant for those wanting quick gratification."
