"The first time I ordered this plant, it struggled to grow and become established. I tried again, and found that it established quicker during slightly cooler temps, here in the Albuquerque, NM area. I'm using it to fill in bare spots around other shrubs and perennials, in full-hot sun and sandy soil. I'm so glad I gave this one a 2nd try! It is a very attractive, hardy, evergreen groundcover, that flowers throughout the summer."
"Took most of the summer to establish, but finally bloomed and looks like it'll survive. Deer & rabbits left it alone. Recommend planting in larger numbers, one just doesn't make an impact. We'll see how it competes/blends with the creeping thyme and phlox it's mixed with."
"I ordered two of these and they arrived early spring. I planted alongside other evergreen ground covers in a small test area. As is fairly usual, they haven't grown in size yet. however, it is now late spring and one of them has produced a bloom! I wasn't expecting that. :-)"

Heterotheca jonesii (Creeping Goldenaster) is a rare native groundcover that forms a summertime carpet of golden-yellow flowers over a grey-green mat of tiny leaves. Evergreen, it will add interest even in winter. Found in habitat in a limited area of southwestern UT, the plant has proven to be widely adaptable to the western US. This little plant makes a great companion for other taller, drought-resistant native perennials, such as beardtongues and sages.
