How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
(8” tall x 12-15” wide) Ben Fhada Rock Rose is a showy variety with bright yellow, orange-eyed flowers in late spring and early summer. This is a green-leaved form of rock rose and makes a good medium-sized groundcover in the waterwise garden. Single flowers are short-lived, but will continue to grow all summer. In colder Western winter climates, it's beneficial to plant rock rose where it gets some afternoon shade so the evergreen foliage doesn't scorch in the winter sun. Native to the Old World (Europe), it's a recommended companion plant for Blue Flax (Linum), Salvia sylvestris varieties, and Blue Fescue Grass (Festuca).

"I'll have to come back next year to review how it tolerated the winter."
"plants are doing well but they are pink, which does not go with my color scheme in front yard. Ordered in fall; they bloom in spring so I didn't know they were a different color til then."
"I purchased this plant several years ago to plant in a sloped area where soil tended to wash away. This plant helps hold soil in place. Winters here get down to -25 degrees at times and colder with wind chill and yet somehow not only does this little plant survive, it stays green! When in bloom it is very pretty but so far I've only seen it bloom for about 3 or 4 weeks and then it's done for the season. Regardless, it is an attractive looking plant and doesn't take over. It is well behaved. I need to purchase a few more of these to get the pop of color I'm wanting now that I know how tough it is!"
"the only problem with helianthemum in Minnesota is winter survival. I mulch mine with pine needles and have had several survive numerous winters. when they are in bloom or even without flowes they are they are a very attractive addition to a garden."
