Bouteloua curtipendula (Sideoats Grama Grass) is a superb native grass that thrives in hot, dry gardens, where its showy summer flower spikes add grace and texture. Our strain has blue foliage that contrasts nicely with the mid-summer tan flowers, which mature to off-white seed heads in early fall. It's a very attractive winter grass with finely tapered, light-catching flower stems.
24-28” tall x 15” wide. A superb native grass, Bouteloua curtipendula (Sideoats Grama Grass) is a delight in the xeric garden. This grass will provide year-round visual interest in waterwise gardens, and is not appetizing to deer. It grows best with full sun and thrives in any soil type including clay. Established plants are quite xeric and a fine choice for very dry sites. Mature plants have an attractive vase-shaped growth habit that mixes in nicely with other native late season bloomers like Rudbeckia, Ratibida, and Salvia azurea.

Wow
"Actually, I am doing an experimental garden above my retaining wall. This area before I rebuilt a house was pretty barren so I ordered a lot of different things from High Country and planted without regard to height etc. All plants except one or two have thrived and I Avery happy with high country just wish I could afford the bigger ones."

Like fireworks
"That's what i think the flowers look like- little spays of fireworks above green foliage. Doesn't have much blue to the foliage honestly, but it's good for moderately dry spots(wouldn't recommend growing entirely unirrigated if grown west of its natural range), and is a vigorous grower- 2/3 plants are basically full size the first year, 3rd is healthy but a little slower. Nice ornamental, native grass."
