The High Mountain Native Grass Seed Mix is an expertly formulated blend of cool season grasses that re-creates high elevation meadows for states in the Intermountain West. These grasses thrive in cool mountain areas with late frosts in spring and early frosts in fall. This grass seed mix is formulated to withstand drought, will provide habitat for songbirds and beneficial insects, and be a source of natural beauty with its ornamental seed heads in late summer and fall.

I keep coming back for more (High Mtn Native Grass seed mix)

"Live at 7000 ft - high desert on lee slope of Sandia Mtns, east of Albuquerque, NM. Started planting two years ago and had pretty good results - then this year ""sandwiched"" the seeds between two layers (only about 1/4th inch thick) of 'enhanced top soil' and the rapid growth is remarkable - of course I watered like H*** but it definitely works. Water is critical as is the 'soil sandwich'. I keep opening up more areas since I've had such good results."

Great mix of native cool season grasses

"I sowed these grasses in Dallas which is a zone a tad out of range. My goal was to add during fall, let the rains germinate and they law dormant until the spring. They have grown nicely. The soils here are heavy clay and they have held up well. There have formed seeds and with the exception of the wild rye, like let the seeds mature and reseed or move to other spots. Awaiting for them to go dormant again and allow the warm seed grasses to take over in another mix I used here. They will choke out weeds and other wildflowers, but that would be easy enough to fix by seeding perennials again at the end of summer to allow for them to germinate and take root."
