Description

36-48" tall x 18-24" wide. A remarkable native perennial, Silver Ironweed is a standout where ever it's planted. The upright stems of long, thin silver-white foliage and late summer display of bright pink, butterfly attracting flowers are unlike any other plant currently in cultivation. Rarely found in cultivation outside of TX, this heat-loving beauty needs limey soils and dry growing conditions. A somewhat slow grower, it seems to establish a deep root system before growing a lot of stems and leaves. Leave standing for winter interest and cut its herbaceous stems to the ground each spring. Thanks to Lauren and Scott Ogden for seed collected near the Davis Mts. of west TX. Plant with Yucca and Agave. (seed/cutting propagated).
