Overview
Stomatium sp. Hantamberg (Night Blooming Ice Plant) is a mat-forming succulent groundcover. It blooms in mid-spring with a fragrant display of yellow night-blooming flowers. It grows very low to the ground and spreads wide. When planted in masses, it can really cover ground. Native to the dry, cold areas of South Africa, this has proven to be a reliably cold hardy succulent for a xeriscape, container planting, or rock garden.

Description

Native to South Africa, Stomatium (Night Blooming Ice Plant) is found in dry, cold areas with lean, well-drained soil. This form is named for Hantamberg, a city in South Africa. Tolerant of some afternoon shade. Plant it in between rocks in pockets of soil that won’t stay too wet during winter. A great addition to a western garden or xeriscape, Stomatium’s succulent foliage makes it a good firescaping plant as well.
