4-6' tall x 4-6' wide. This intensely fragrant, fast growing heirloom selection of a native currant was originally chosen for its abundant crop of flavorful black fruit. But Ribes odoratum Crandall's clove-scented yellow spring flowers and mahogany-red fall foliage make it a plant with three seasons of garden beauty. Thrives in all but dry sand or wet clay soils. (cutting propagated)

"I bought a 3 pack of these last year, they seemed a bit small. They had a little growth last year and are flowering this spring. I put them in some of the toughtest spots in my garden and they do well (as long as it's sunny). I would contrast these with the unnamed golden currant seedlings I bought. They also are surviving but haven't flowered in their 3rd year and seem less vigorous. They are in a shadier spot, but I think the Crandall variety is just a strong one. Also the berries are great tasting (I haven't tasted these exact plants yet, but I have others of the same variety). I've tried Gwen/Buffalo at the nursery and didn't care for the taste."
"The clove currant was very small. It made it though winter and had a few leaves but died with the intense heat in June. I did keep it watered, being careful not to over water. I am very sad. I've wanted one for a long time. I need to re-order. I can't recommend it because I never got to see it pass 3"" tall."
"This is a plant that my grandmother had many years ago and my mother got a planting and I also took a planting to just about everywhere I moved. Then my luck ran out and the shoot didn't make it. I have looked hi and lo for it and finally found out what exactly it was called. In the spring, it produces lovely fragrant yellow flowers that are so sweet. In the fall, the leaves turn to a red color and the little currants keep the birds happy. I'd highly recommend this for a fence/border area."
"Absolutely love this bush. It was something that my grandmother had many years ago. My mom got a snippet and I got one from her. Mine eventually died and I have looked all over for this bush. Thank goodness High Country carried it. The yellow flowers in the spring and the smell is oh so pretty. The currants are loved by birds in the fall. Would highly recommend this for a border. You won't regret it."
"This plant was part of a shipment that went astray for 9 days through no fault of HCG. It was well-grown and well-packed, and recovered from horrible shipping. It is growing quickly, and I can't wait for next year's bloom! #sweepstake"
"Shrubs arrived in great shape and are doing very well! Could not be happier! Bought three and gave one to my sister-in-law."
"The two I ordered arrived in beautiful condition and are thriving in my tough clay soil. The scent of the blossoms is heavenly. #sweepstakes. They remind me of the gorgeous, spicy/sweet currant bush in my childhood home."
"I can't wait for this plant to bloom so I can stick my nose into it! I think the smell of cloves is very unique, and yellow is my favorite color."
"this one is new to me and can't wait to smell it next spring"
"Love the fragrance, easy quick grower Healthy"
