Description

Verbascum x ‘Plum Smokey’ (Mullein) is a stunning garden addition with densely packed flower spikes in a rich, rosy hue. Delicate blooms open sequentially from the bottom up, ensuring a prolonged display of color and attracting a variety of pollinators to your garden.

Plant ‘Plum Smokey’ in full sun in very well-drained soil that will not become waterlogged. It tolerates poor soils well and may require staking in richer soils. Once established, it is very drought tolerant but requires regular moisture throughout the first growing season. Remove spent flowers to promote further blooms and if you want to avoid self-seeding; or allow this short-lived perennial to reseed in your garden for enduring blooms year after year. Mullein is highly tolerant of urban pollution and is deer resistant.
