One of the first asters to bloom, Aster x frikartii 'Monch' (Frikart's Aster) flowers from mid-summer into fall, with lavender-purple petals surrounding golden-yellow centers. This easy to grow hybrid is mildew resistant. Once established, Asters are drought-tolerant, vigorous, long-lived perennials that provide an important source of and late-season food for pollinators.

Monch Asters are Great!

"Monch's aster bloomed a really long, long time in my garden. Its flower color was purple, a really pretty purple and it grew in one season from little pot plant to blooming in one season. Bought a couple more this year too!"

Native, takes the heat, lovely blue in hot summer.

"I have a foot and a half strip in front of the front wall of my house, next to the sidewalk. It is very hot and sunny. I planted a couple of this small Aster in the Fall and it is two feet tall with lovely blue blooms. We have record heat like everyone else now and this lovely little flower is doing very well next to my agastaches, coneflowers and gauras."

First spring growth looks promising

"Planted three of these in fall according to directions, and already have very healthy growth on all 3 as of mid-April. Zone 8 in Georgia."

Very pretty Aster

"I bought two last year and planted one in partial shade and one in full sun. The full sun aster has come back this year healthy and happy. Very nice addition to my garden. The part shade one did not make it through the winter. I do have heavy clay and it seems to be too much for some of the plants especially with the shade."

back bone of my border

"greatest aster ever! blooms non stop for almost 3 months! i recommend cutting back by 1/3 twice before allowing buds to form so they won't flop later, a small price to pay for this workhorse."

Great Pollinator

"I've naturalized this aster in large gardens before and now in my new, granny garden, it is here for the late pollinators."

Fabulous frikarts aster

"Arrived healthy but small in 2020. No flowers the first year, 3 flowers the second year, and wowza fall of the third year and is covered in dozens and dozens of blooms. Makes a great statement and attracts pollinators, gorgeous! Zone 8B Central Texas"
