Description

A 2000 Plant Select® Winner. 15" tall x 18" wide (cutting propagated). A cold hardy Twinspur, 'Coral Canyon®' is a vigorous perennial that blooms throughout the summer months. The salmon-pink flowers are held above the foliage on wiry stems. Originally from the Drakensberg mountains of South Africa, this superb plant has proven itself to be a stand-out in our western landscapes! Coral Canyon® Twinspur thrives in enriched garden soils and appreciates regular watering.

Planting & Care

Twinspur (Diascia) are a group of showy annual and perennial species native to southern Africa. Preferred growing conditions:

  • Plant in compost-enriched garden loam soil. Avoid clay. Diascia grows well in with full sun to partial shade conditions.
  • Mulching is beneficial using common mulch materials.
  • These plants like moderately moist soil and appreciate regular irrigation when conditions are hot and dry. They won't need much extra water in the Eastern US.
  • Fertilize lightly in fall with Yum Yum Mix/compost blend.
  • Deadheading will encourage extended blooming over the summer growing season. Cut back to just above the ground in early to mid-spring.
  • Diascia spread gently via underground stems and can be divided in the spring to control the plant spread and propagate additional plants.
