Little Pickles (Crassothonna)
Description
Crassothonna capensis (Little Pickles) is a charming addition to a xeriscape or container garden. Plant Crassothonna capensis in a full sun location where its unique foliage can be enjoyed. An excellent container, wall, or rock garden plant, place it where it can trail over edges. The mid-spring, daisy-like yellow flowers are ½ inch wide and are long-blooming. The blooms tend to remain closed on cloudy days. Adaptable to many soil types, good drainage is the key to success. It’s a true sun lover but will tolerate some dappled shade. Tolerant of salt, it’s an excellent choice for a seaside garden. It will go dormant in winter. Crassothonna capensis is native to the Eastern Cape province of South Africa where it is found growing in dry, rocky scrublands.
