"Love these. This is our third year of planting them in a container on our deck (zone 7 full sun, treat them as annuals in this zone). Spectacular varied blooms each lasting a day from May -Aug. Lots of bang for the buck."

One downside is that they tend to flop over (as mentioned on the HCG web site), so best in large containers, or tucked in with other plants in border. But the blooms still find a way t peek out and get noticed. These have been blooming for several weeks, and there's been no sign of diminishing blooms. #sweepstakes"

"I discovered these flowers on a walk in my neighborhood a few summers ago and finally saw the homeowner one day and asked him what they were called. . . Tigridia, I had to have them! I searched online and found them available on your website. I ordered them last fall in October, the 25 bulbs arrived, most of them good size, in March and I planted them in 3 different pots in April. They came up in late July and have bloomed ever since! Each flower is stunning, I wish they lasted longer than just one day! Our winters here in western WA are fairly mild, zone 7b, so I'm hoping the bulbs will be ok in the pots over the winter as I look forward to more blooms next summer!"
"This is one of my favorite flowers, remember having them in the yard when I was a kid. My mom called them one-day flowers. This selection had all the beautiful colors and bloomed great this year, despite moving the containers from a coastal to inland valley climate in June. I'm very pleased with the performance and quality of the bulbs/plants. They grew so well we will be dividing them and spreading to more containers. I did find at our old house that the varmints liked to eat the bulbs but they do very well in large pots."
Tiger Flowers (also known as Mexican Shell Flowers) are native to Mexico and Guatemala. As their botanic name Tigridia (meaning “tiger-like”) suggests, they will bring a rainbow of bright color to your mid-to late summer garden. Tiger Flowers are 3-6 inches wide with three single-color petals radiating alongside smaller patterned petals. The shell or tiger-patterned center contrasts with the simple petals creating a dramatic presence in the flowerbed. The foliage is pleated adding an extra dimension of interest. Hardy in zones 8-10, plant as annuals in cooler areas.
