Description

Cotton Candy Grape Hyacinth (Muscari comosum ‘Plumosum’) arrive in spring with a cloud of fragrant lavender blooms. The unusual feathery florets, like spun cotton candy, arrive in mid-spring. At 8-10" tall, they can be a focal point in your garden if planted in tight groupings or use them to jazz up a hum-drum section of your garden. These unusual flowers were reportedly favorites of Thomas Jefferson and still bloom at Monticello. They will naturalize when happy, creating spring drifts of fragrant color. Plant Cotton Candy Grape Hyacinth in well-drained, compost enriched soil in a sun or partial shade location. Good sources of spring pollen for pollinators, they make lovely cut flowers as well.
