"I planted the bulbs in five clusters of five each in an area of the yard that collects water and doesn’t drain well . They love it there! They received no attention after planting, except pulling away the dead leaves in the spring. They consistently bloom after rains in the summer. This is what they look like after a few years."
"I have enjoyed these beautiful bulbs for several years in Illinois. We have them in large flower boxes which Winter in our basement. When spring comes the boxes come out and the spring rains water them. They bloom like crazy. Everyone in the neighborhood has bulbs because they are so prolific and we share with the whole neighborhood. I now have a place in AZ and am planning to bring some of these beauties to my desert home."
"I was a little disappointed because of the 25 bulbs 4 or 5 were soft and not in good condition to plant. I hope the other ones are fine and will bloom nicely"
"The zephyranthes haven't grown yet, but the rains taper off in April in The Great Central Valley so I'm watering. The bulbs looked healthy when they arrived though. The paperwhites are growing and blooming. Gardening teaches patience."
"Zephyranthes are wonderful, versatile bulbs that can be tucked in just about anywhere for surprise flowers during the hottest time of the year here in the eastern Mojave Desert garden. As a designer and avid gardener, I'm really pleased with HCG's rain lily bulbs, both in the ground or in pots--great quality and a lot of bang for the buck!"
"They came up and bloomed in mid summer shortly after planting- they are really pretty! Hoping they winter well and rebloom again and again."
"There's many plants that don't thrive in the desert SW, but the rain lilies have done amazingly we. Without any particular care beyond a drip irrigation system directed to nearby plants, they have proliferated and come back more robust each year. As the name describes, they bloom specifically when it rains, which is the summer monsoon season for us. In our garden at 6200ft with fortified pulverized-granite ""soil,"" the ""pink"" Zephyranthes has thrived, but the other colors in the Zephyranthes Mix have not. However, we are so impressed with these lilies, we are going to try again with the mix, as well as more of the tried and true pinks."
