Café Au Lait Dinnerplate Dahlia is so breathtakingly beautiful that it’s a favorite for special occasions everywhere. Big 6-10" sumptuous flowers are creamy white blushed with shades of pink, peach, and mocha. No two flowers are the same. Cut some of these beautiful blooms, and you’ll have a stunning bouquet.
Café Au Lait Dinnerplate Dahlia is the Dahlia to grow if you only have room for one. Big dinner-plate sized flowers steal the show in shades of creamy white tinted with apricot, pink, rose, and a touch of beige. These easy-to-grow perennials bloom from mid-summer to fall on sturdy stems and make choice cut flowers. In fact, the more you cut them, the more they bloom! For longer stems, snip out the center of each plant when they reach 18" to encourage lower branching and longer stems. Café Au Lait Dahlias are lovely planted in a perennial border where other plants can help support the big blooms. Staking may also be required to support the large flowers. 36-48" tall x 18-24" wide.
Planting & Care
Summer Blooming Bulbs, including popular varieties such as gladiolus and dahlias, are planted in the spring and bloom in the summer. Most of these bulbs are tropical and require warm weather to be planted. There must not be any danger of frost and your ground temperature must have reached 55 degrees Fahrenheit before planting. Many
of our summer blooming bulbs can be planted as perennials in zones 9-10 (zone 8 if mulched), but should be treated as annuals in cooler climates. You can lift them and store them in the fall, or bring patio pots inside before frost. Read our article about How To Grow Dahlias.
Growing Dahlias: Plant Dahlia tubers after spring frosts in good garden soil with full sun. Dahlias must be protected from high winds, so we suggest you position them against a wall or be ready to stake them. Keep the plants well-watered and free of bugs, applying flower fertilizer as they grow. Your dahlias will be in full bloom by July or August, with the enormous flowers continuing to bloom until frost. As frost threatens, pull up the roots and trim off the stems. You can store the tubers in a cool dry place until the following spring.

Coming up Dahlias
"2 of the 3 Dahlia tubers planted came up. They are growing and each has buds. They are not a tall Dahlia but as they were planted this spring perhaps they will get bigger with bigger blooms in the next few years. Have not bloomed yet so I cannot speak to the flower itself."
