How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (801) 769-0300 or contact us by email or chat.

"This was our first order and we couldn't be more pleased! Ultraviolet Salvia arrived cleverly packed and healthy. We wanted to add some purple salvia alongside some larger red and pink obtained locally and planted in the spring. Our two tiny Ultra violets were received and planted about two weeks ago, and our weather turned from sunny to torrential rains this weekend. Some purple just caught my husband's eye, and sure enough, we have blooms! Happy plants, happy customers."
"Vibrant blooms from Spring until Fall."
"Sad to see that none of three plants came back in spring after the fall planting"
"Probably not for everyone, for Southwest Gardner wherever you can fit in. When photographing other plants and this peeks through is lovely, looks planned. I mostly plant them for my hummers. In Arizona we are limited in what we can grow, this grows well!"
"I planted some starter plants of Ultra Violet Salvia in the fall 2023 and am delighted to say they survived our Zone 5 central Iowa winter. So I order several more in Spring 2024 to add to my large hummingbird garden. Because they survived the first winter, I am confident they will be a happy addition to my flower garden. #sweepstakes"
"I use this product as a border in a large area."
"First year for this plant, and the first year it has been very impressive. it's grown faster and flowered more than any other plant I purchased from HCG this season, and it just keeps filling out…So, I do hope these over winter, but if not, they were worth their price just as an annual. It does have a nice compact, round shape, and the violet flowers pair great with 'shimmer' evening primrose, or engelmann's Daisy. I'm honestly… shocked, by how much the hummingbirds love this plant. You always hear ""bright red, orange, or pink to attract hummingbirds"", but I have some salvia gregii'furmans red' and 'wild thing' in the same part of the yard, as well as the bright red penstemon'rubycunda', and 'orange carpet creeping hummingbird trumpet' but all the hummers spend wayyyyy more time at these, not sure why, I know hummingbirds generally prefer plants that are absent of bees, and sorry, but at least in my experience- bees don't use this plant whatsoever(they probably would if there was little else around for them though). The hummingbirds just love it so much though, it's crazy."
"Bought this in May and it has grown more than ten size it was when it arrived. Looks great. Would definitely buy more."
"We had a wet winter in Boise and my five five-year-old ultra violet sage plants died :( I replaced them with catmint. These ultra-violets are extraordinarily pretty - I love them! Keep them dry!"
"All six plants arrived in good shape although three of them had to wait in their shipping pots for a while. We had a very wet spring along the Front Range so prepping the new garden beds was delayed. All of the plants have been in the ground now for about eight weeks and are growing nicely. The flowers are beautiful but not plentiful in this first year so I look forward to seeing how they look next year. I'll keep up the supplemental watering a couple times a week until the weather cools off. I'm hoping that the plants will be hardy in our zone 6 yard."
