18"-2 ft. x 6-8' wide. 'Gro-Low' is perfect as a woody groundcover for covering flat and sloping areas. In late spring "Gro-Low" is covered with profuse tiny yellow flowers. The summer foliage is shiny and dark green and turns orange, red and burgundy in fall. Grows readily in all types of soil including clay. (Cutting propagated.)

"This low sumac took 4 years to take off in a bed that has irrigation but is almost pure sand soil. I garden in hot desert summers over 100 degree heat without the plants burning and come winter they are exposed to freezing winds and snow. 4 years later, they are gorgeous. Glossy leaves in summer and stunning yellow and maroon fall color. Be patient, the wait is worth it."

"This shrub is slow growing, but is well established. I've seen it in the local area (high desert at 7,000 ft), and even have one growing in the uncultivated part of our yard. The leaves are nicely shaped and color well in autumn. The plant resists gophers and rabbits, which are a real problem here. It has an attractive texture and takes well to being shaped. It's found growing with aspen, which is where it's planted now in this yard. It keeps the ground cool for the aspen roots."
