MASSIVE!! but saps life from nearby plants

"got this as part of a collection 4 years ago and had I known they'd go more for width than height, I would've stuck all 3 in my front yard. The one I stuck in front hides my entire front porch (which was great as a parcel sat outside overnight untouched & unseen) . . . . And as I mentioned I had gotten it with a collection of shrubs, it is aggressively stealing all the nutirent I try to feed to the currant bush I put nearby. Uh. . . be careful feeding this thing any compost or even near it, cuz it will get insanely large (one of mine has an almost 9 foot spread) . . . . unless that's what you want. The thing needs a lot of room and I don't think 6 feet from another plant was sufficient for mine as I watch it sap life out of currant berry bushes I'll likely need to replace down the road. Another one has smothered some powis castle sage in the backyard . . . cuz I did not expect this rabbitbrush to just run over everything or get that wide. . . . But overall great plant, requires no care."

Good results

"Not as silver as I've seen this shrub other times, but a fairly silver selection. They grow fast and are usually large shrubs by the end of the second season in the ground with no supplemental irrigation after the first year. One plant had an Artemisia tridentata(sagebrush) growing with it that I was able to divide and plant elsewhere, so that was a cool bonus."

this Rabbitbrush is exactly what we needed

"We moved into a new house that has electrical boxes etc. on the side of our front yard. We wanted something that would grow fairly large to act as a screen in front of the biggest box. Our plant has done very well and it's been less than a year! We are very happy with our purchase! The plant was affordable, arrived packaged very well, and has thrived. Thank you!!"

Pretty

"Be sure to plant this is as close to full sun as possible. We have three of these. The one that's in full sun and grown about 10x in just the first calendar year (second growing season). The other two are a bit less happy currently. They're surrounded by other plants and while the spot technically qualifies as ""full sun"" they do get some shade during the day. That said they have both grown and don't look sick. Hopefully they'll perk up a bit next growing season. I simply cannot wait for these guys to bloom. They're a keystone species, my neighbor has one and it's absolutely covered with pollinators on the last summer. Gorgeous."

Rough start

"This is my second plant. The first arrived very small and beat up from the shipping. It died several days after planting and I received the relalcement which is doing great. It is now about 18"" tall after about 3 months and very vigorous."

"The wet snow stomped this guy's form down last winter and never recovered the big round form. This Spring I cut it down to the ground. This image is what I got the same year in August. By mid September it basically looked like the intro image on this page."

Delicate plant but vigoruous growth

"Plants were smaller than expected when they arrived in the spring, but I followed the planting instructions and they took awhile to start growing, but always looked healthy. Now as I write this in mid-summer they have lots of new growth and are looking much sturdier. I have a small garden bed with shallow, poor-quality soil, and am a very amateur gardener who often have trouble getting anything to grow, so I'm impressed that they've done as well as they have! Looking forward to seeing them reach full size and eventually (I hope) cover up my otherwise patchy and unsightly plot."

Bright and beautiful

"I ordered a couple of these 2-3 years ago to fill in a far corner of the yard. It's an easy care native plant that provides protection for the abundant quail and other birds. They are now 3' × 3', hoping they will get bigger. I water 1× week, mulch with pine needles and apply Yum Yum mix seasonally. One was eaten to nubbins by the bunnies so I surrounded them with wire and they have flourished since. They have just finishing their bloom, pics attached. I wouldn't plant them under a window cause they have a certain odor. Came here to order more and left a review!"
