How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
(10-12" tall x 12-24" wide) 'Heavenly Habit' Northern Jacob’s Ladder (Polemonium boreale) flowers with delicate violet-blue, sweetly scented flowers on upright stems with lacy fern-like foliage. Bees and butterflies love the flowers that cover the plant from early-to-late summer, and you will enjoy this unique, low-maintenance perennial in both sun and part shade. At 10-12 inches tall it’s nice in borders, containers, rock gardens, and woodland settings. It grows best in compost-enriched, well-drained soil that is moist. In sunny areas, protect Northern Jacob’s Ladder from extremely hot afternoon sun, it prefers mild temperatures. A great companion for hosta, columbine, and Oriental poppies. It’s compact form and height make it perfect for a gravelly slope, rock garden, or border. Mix with Vision® Violet Cranesbill for an exuberant color show. Deer resistant this hardy perennial is also generally pest-free. Cut back by half in midsummer to refresh if desired. Hardy in zones 3-7, the plant may be easily divided in spring for even more flowers.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. "I bought these as a BOGO. One gets morning sun and PM shade and one is under a tree getting a touch of afternoon sun. Both are thriving beautifully!"
"I planted two of these in the Fall and was amazed that they stayed green all winter in my Zone 7 front yard! They have done great this spring also, thriving in an area of my garden that was a ""problem"" area. It's mostly a shade garden but gets hot afternoon sun, so I've had a difficult time finding something to thrive, but these have been great!"
"Only 2 of the 3 I bought survived. Most of the plants I bought in June from HCG seem to be a bum lot. Planted these in morning sun, shade by 2pm. Needed much more attention and water then expected. 2 died off within 2 weeks of planting. 1 is still growing but it's pretty meager and unattractive."
"I lost my first jacob's ladder years ago. This is the exact same one, it came so healthy and ready to bloom. I've enjoyed it all summer. I am certain it will make it through our tough Vermont winters so I can continue to smell this wonderful scent!"
