• Attractive seedpods can be used in dried flower arrangements or left in the garden for visual interest
• This easy to grow perennial is deer and rabbit resistant
Papaver orientale 'Beauty of Livermere' brings vibrant color and elegance to any garden. Large papery scarlet flowers, measuring up to 6 inches across, stand tall on sturdy stems amidst finely cut, hairy foliage. This perennial's striking blooms create a dramatic focal point in late spring to early summer.
In regions with hot summers, afternoon shade can help prolong the bloom period. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming and prevent self-seeding, although its self-seeding can be an asset in naturalistic garden settings. Divide clumps every few years to maintain vigor and ensure prolific flowering.

Not red
"Received this poppy a few years ago. It came in great shape. The first couple of years it just grew foliage. This year I had numerous blooms, but unfortunately the blooms were orange not red. I was a little disappointed considering I had to wait a few years for it to bloom."

"Another great purchase! Bloomed the first season."
— Donna (5/5)
At the Taos Ski Valley they bloom on the 14th of July.
"It continues to give my wildflower garden the true red it needed. Perfect!"

Giant red poppies
"I've been trying to get some poppies going for two years and last year I ordered these plants from High Country. The first ones planted died back and never came up but they replaced them with new plants. The replacements have now bloomed and are very huge vibrant red flowers. They look like they will produce a lot of seed pods and spread out. I kept a wire fence around them to keep animals off of them. Poppies are tricky to grow but these are fantastic."
— Erin (5/5)
DEFINITELY A BEAUTY
"Surprised it made it thru the harsh winter and a long one at that. It has snowed in May! Doing great in both locations I planted them. Soil is clay, but amended with potting soil and plant is doing well and has big blooms getting ready to open. How does my garden grow?. . . with purrrrfect plants from High Country Gardens. Thank you very much. So easy even a novice can grow them!"
— Sprout (5/5)
Showstopper
"When guests to my yard see the poppies, they stop in their tracks and ask ""what is that plant""? They are dramatic color, form and beauty."
— Garden L. (5/5)
Stunningly Gorgeous Red
"I ordered two plants last summer, and they arrived in good order for autumn planting. Both plants are doing quite well now, and both have numerous flower buds. One bud has flowered already and the color is a stunningly gorgeous red with black undertones."
