Description
5-6' tall x 18" wide (seed propagated). Grow 'Llano' for its large mature size, vigor, and killer blue foliage. In fall, enjoy its showy, bronze-colored seed heads. Indiangrass foliage is used as larval food by butterflies. Wild turkey and prairie birds eat its seeds and use its foliage for cover. Originally released by New Mexico's Los Lunas USDA-NRCS Plant Materials Center in 1963, it was re-introduced just a few years ago. The original seed collection was made near Clovis, NM.
