This is a new selection of the native Idaho Fescue, notable for its enticing spruce-blue foliage. The thin leaves are much longer than the more familiar Festuca glauca, giving Festuca idahoensis 'Siskiyou Blue' a softer, more graceful look.

Beautiful color. Bloomed soon after

"Beautiful color. Bloomed soon after planting."

Maybe not

"Two out of the five plants looked ""mostly dead"". I planted them anyway, trusting High Country Gardens' quality control to only send out health plants. Unfortunately, those two plants did not survive over winter. Before I buy from HCG again, I will try to source plants locally where I can see the condition of plants before I buy them. The ones that did survive, however, are a beautiful blue gray color and I am pleased with them."

Slow grower

"Ordered two flats two years ago . First flat planted in full sun with regular irrigation . After 2 years it has suddenly filled in and is putting forth ample seed heads . Second flat was in full sun with minimal supplemental water. It failed to thrive so this Spring the 2nd group was transplanted to partial shade with regular supplemental water . It is now showing signs of improvement and a few if the grasses are putting forth seeds. This grass definitely requires additional water and partial shade is helpful I think HCG might consider modifying their rating to indicate the grass requires regular irrigation and I would not consider it drought tolerant. It only requires a trim in early Spring so it is extremely low maintenance ."

First timer

"First time planting this and so far so good. I did however have something chew on one of them and kind of mowed it down but it must've moved on and hasn't bothered it since🤣"

These are beautiful. Love that they don't grow very tall.

"Beautiful color. Tassels are a definite plus!"

Different results depending on location

"I ordered and planted 2 flats of Siskiyou Blue Fescue in spring 2022. One flat, planted in an area which received more water has flourished and looks lovely. The second flat was located in a location about 30' away. Those plants received less water via the same irrigation system. I added additional water by hand as they failed to thrive. Every other plant in the same area did extremely well. Were the plants in the first flat healthier? I will wait for Spring to see what happens and decide whether the poor performing plants decide to grow or should be replaced. Those that did well are quite lovely and make a rich, attractive border."
