10" tall x 15" wide. 'Shimmer' is about foliage, flowers, texture and an exciting new look in the world of native plants. Originally discovered by Lauren Springer Ogden and Scott Ogden, this new evening primrose cultivar is an attention-getting plant in and out of bloom. A burst of 3" diameter, lemon-yellow flowers lights up the plant in late spring, followed by flushes of flowers throughout the summer. The extremely narrow gray-green, almost silver leaves have such incredible texture that it is invaluable when contrasting with other colors and types of foliage. I recommend pinching the stem tips several times in spring to create more branching and "thicken up" the plant with more foliage. Try companion plants such as Lavender 'Mitcham Gray,' Gailardia and Salvia 'Wild Thing.' Cutting propagated.
This plant was patented and introduced by Lauren Springer and Scott Ogden, thanks to years of garden development, propagations, and hardiness trials. They selected this cultivar from Lauren’s Colorado garden.

"5 out of 6 made it through year one. Now approaching year two and those 5 are happy and healthy. Growing in dense clay soil in Hollister, CA. Constant bright yellow blooms out the front door. Will be ordering 6 more. (I suspect the local skunk family decimated the one that died. ) Been ordering since HCG opened their doors."
"These are bordering a path in a large garden area. Looking good so far - they've grown only a little bit since they were planted this spring (maybe 3 months ago) but have been flowering intermittently. Looking forward to seeing these mature!"
"This plant makes all my other plants look great. It just hangs out, blooming all evening and into the morning. It forms a mound about 3 feet across (year four)."
"This adds a bright splash of color to my rock garden and compliments the flowers of Sage flowers it is next to. I would buy this plant again."
"We purchased our plants at least 15 years ago and they've never failed to bloom all summer. Love them!!"
"Planted in full Sun, this will bloom all summer long, even in Las Vegas. It goes dormant in winter, but is so spectacular for the other 8 months I don't mind."
"Heavy bloomer, super hardy in my hot, dry climate"
"I live in one of the hottest places in the country--lower Wayne county, Utah. We have our own little death valley here--and very heavy clay soil. But primroses seem to thrive in this area. After a wild one planted itself in my yard, I was inspired to get a more cultivated variety. These are gorgeous--bright, vivid yellow blossoms every morning! Of course, they wilt in the heat as the day progresses, but there are fresh ones opening each day. I purchased two tiny little plants from High Country Gardens and I was a little skeptical as to their survival, but they are actually thriving, spreading and blooming. A great purchase!"
"Looks great at the front of the border."
"I love this cultivar, but, of 5 plants, only one has survived. They were planted in a dry garden of mostly native mineral soil with minimal amendment. Only one plant of the original trio survived. Despite deep watering, the two replacement plants shriveled up during the hot and dry summer part of summer. As much as I would like more of 'Shimmer', I'm not sure it's worth the effort."
