10" tall x 18-24" wide (seed propagated). This native wildflower is
renowned for the huge 4" yellow flowers that open each afternoon and
close up the following morning. Long blooming throughout the summer
months, it keeps going until it feels it has set enough seed pods to
retire for the season. Long-lived, it forms a huge underground tuber to
keep itself going from year to year. Evening Primrose cascades nicely
over rocks and retaining walls. (Botanists have changed the name for
this species from missouriensis to macrocarpa).

"I have them as focal points with ground cover and other colorful low flowers dispersed amongst them."
"The plants arrived when promised, but looked greatly distressed and bone dry. It took 5-6 weeks in the garden before they looked healthy and began to put on new growth. They eventually had a few blooms just a little later than their existing partners. I used them to fill in a gap where the original planting was lost to a weird winter."
"I ordered 2 plants. One has done well. The other was nearly dead on arrival. I planted it and babied it, but it didn't survive. The next test will be to see if it survives the winter. The surviving plant bloomed for a few weeks, and was pretty."
"I bought this plant for my hard as heck dry clay front yard. It has flourished in the spot where it was planted at least 10, maybe 15, years ago. If never gets any bigger, but holds its ground against its neighbors (lavender, penstemon). Very slow to emerge in the spring but once up it flowers quickly. Very pretty plant with red stems and smooth, elongated fleshy leaves; the night-blooming flowers are lovely if ephemeral (and edible!) When we had 116 degree heat in Portland last month, it stopped flowering for about three weeks, but it started back up recently as if nothing had happened. In sum: totally xeric, clay tolerant, no fuss, pretty, long-lived, 10/10."
"This is a very hardy plant, withstanding some major heat and dry soil conditions. The blooms are beautiful, if ephemeral. Makes a great low-growing cover for the edge of the border. Zone 5b/6a"
"I love this flower so much I wanted to buy more but they were sold out! I will be keeping an eye out for when they are back in stock. Love them!"
"It's on the south side and gets very hot. First year and doing well."
