How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
24-28" tall x 15-18" wide (seed propagated). This is a delightful new native hybrid wildflower that brings a distinctively cheerful personality to your garden. Blooming in summer, the flower's thin, deep-pink petals curve forward from the center cone like an old-fashioned sunbonnet. A tap-rooted species, this hybrid is a floriferous, rugged performer in soils that are alkaline, well drained (no clay) and of lean-to-moderate fertility. 'Rocky Top' is a good choice for drier growing conditions and rocky, poor soil sites.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. "This is a great plant for large areas, flowers can be seen from a distance but I crammed them into the small area that I had. I will divide and share if they outgrow their present plot."
"I placed Rocky Top in my front border by the porch. It's a little early for the first bloom, but the plant was large, full, well-shaped and very healthy. Thanks as always for the beautiful plants."
"This plant is beautiful, and it hasn't even flowered yet. I can't wait to see it in flower. I plan on planting it in as many places as I can. Two of the plants didn't stick their heads out from dormancy, but High Country Gardens replaced them which creates trust and loyalty, unlike some other companies that will give a strenuous song and dance despite there being a genuine issue."
"I have had trouble getting bare roots from another nursery to grow. All five plants have taken offl I would buy yours again."
"Incredible drought and heat tolerance. Great wildflower look in a perennial. Looks perfect with ornamental grasses. Tolerates part shade. Exceptionally long bloom time, longer than any other type of coneflower I've grown. Likes lean, well-draining soil. Try it with something yellow!"
