How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
‘Mellow Yellows’ Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) offers a harmonic palette of color all in one plant, ranging from cream to apricot to canary yellow. This breathtaking Echinacea is all you need for a brilliant parade of summer color. Plant these easy keepers in a sunny spot where they can show off. At a height of 24-30" tall, this coneflower is nice with Ornamental Grasses, Lavender, Agastache, and Monarda. Drought tolerant once established. Deer will generally stay away. Pollinator-friendly, this is a must-have native for the summer garden. Cut flowers for bouquets, and deadhead spent flowers to encourage more growth - but be sure to leave some blooms to dry as the birds love the seeds. The seed heads are lovely during winter too. 24-30" tall x 12-24" wide.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. "Planted late summer and it's doing very well! And most amazing it's getting ready to bloom!!! I know it's hardy as we've been getting freezing mornings already and it's just pushing on through and putting on a show regardless. So pleased with this plant!"
"I ordered a flat of nine. I was disappointed with the variance in quality. Some arrived very healthy, others small and dried out. If they all came healthy, easily a five star product, if they all came small and dried out it would be one star."
"As noted, I am expecting good things from this plant. It certainly appears to have had the proper upbringing while at the nursery."
"Having a lot of river rock from previous owners in the landscaping… And our soil and area can be very extreme from drought & flood… & A lot of little critters that like to try and eat my plants! These are amazing… With beautiful new blooms only a month after I planted!"
"I have planted these in a bed away from the house. I am hoping they will fill in and join the daisies and asters for a low maintenance, low water bed."
"These look great around any other plant - they are wonderful companion plants for anything. The colors range from buttery yellow to cream in year one."
"Pretty yellow flowers that are doing well."
"I like the several shades of yellow than it gives me!"
"I love this echinacea! It's more of a pale, creamy yellow and a bit shorter than the classic purple cone flower but I love it!! Looks really great with the silvery lambs ear and bright purple poppy mallow it's paired with."
"A mainstay of several rose gardens and other perennial beds I've created, Echinacea purpurea blends beautifully with roses and other perennials, attracks pollinators, and enhances floral bouquets. Love the Mellow Yellow and Magnus varieties, which bloomed on and off from late spring into winter in Zone 9 (Louisiana). The problem after our move to New Mexico, where I added them to a few areas at home, was with the number of backyard wildlife (rabbits, squirrels, deer) that found them quite tasty. Protection would be needed for future plantings."
