Not recommended for coastal areas of CA, WA and OR, where it can behave aggressively. Cut back in the spring. (seed propagated).

"Valerian is doing well in dappled morning shade and afternood sun. Amended clay soil on a dripper. Already blooming and we had our last frost only 3 days ago. This plant is a Trooper! Photo shows plant in ground planted in fall last year next to a 5 inch deep pot plant that was just received and is about to go in the ground."

I was very impressed with
"I was very impressed with how my plants looked when they arrived. Nothing crushed or broken, plants were health and seemed strong and are growing in my garden nicelt. Centranthus was a constant in my California garden. Texans don't seem to know anything about it. I praying it does well. If it does, I will be back. Thank you."
— Gail A. (5/5)
"Tiny plant. Very misleading. Its a 5” DEEP pot not wide. Read carefully. And none of the plants are even labeled."

"So far ok as transplanted, and your instructions were useful."

A bit agressive
"Super long bloom time, I don't water them at all, but they clearly perform a little better with more water than we naturally get here. Lepidoptera like these(that's all that pollinates them is moths and butterflies, useless for bees), but they seed around quite aggressively, with wind dispersal mechanisms I would be careful where you plant these that they don't escape cultivation, otherwise they could possibly end up being harmful to local ecosystems."
— Chad (4/5)
Small but doing well
"I'm glad this self seeds because it was small upon arrival a couple of years ago. Now doing really well in my sandy soil and never needs watering. It's a lovely addition to my cottage garden! #sweepstakes"
— Valerie (5/5)
Strong and attractive
"This plant arrived looking good, but definitely did not like the very moist Spring we had in the metro area. With the hotter drier weather it is now in full flower and has tripled in growth."
— RRZ (5/5)
My favorite!
"These are by far my favorite flower. I ordered a few of these several years ago but my rabbit friends bit them down and they never came back. This time though I have chicken wire around them so they are safe. I planted them about 3 weeks ago and within a few days of them being in the ground one of them bloomed. They have grown a bit already and look beautiful and healthy. I am really happy with these flowers, I am extending my garden area and will be ordering more for the fall."
