How do we use your location?
Knowing your location helps us recommend plants that will thrive in your climate, based on your Growing Zone.
Cupid’s Dart (Catananche caerulea) is a popular perennial wildflower from the Mediterranean regions of southern Europe, enjoyed for its lavender-blue flowers from mid-summer into early fall. The common name, Cupid’s Dart, is derived from its use by the early Greeks and Romans to make love potions. Best grown in loose, well-draining soil that has a balance of loam and sand, with medium moisture. Avoid unamended heavy clay soils and wet soils, especially in winter. Plants do not perform well in the heat and humidity of the deep South. Recommended companion plant for Shasta Daisy (Chrysanthemum), White Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), and summer-blooming Alliums.
As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat. The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and fall-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.
Perennials and fall-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your Growing Zone. Perennial and fall-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds. If your order requires more than one shipment and all items are shipping to the same address, there is no additional shipping charge. See our shipping information page for approximate ship dates and more detailed information. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (801) 769-0300 or contact us by email or chat.

"Purchased based on the feathery fronds and the spikey, purple flowers. It's been roughly months and the plants were easily and successfully transplanted where they are nearly triple in size and showing signs of flowering soon. It's been a month of unseasonably warm temps and the plants are indeed thriving with light watering. Very adaptable and very pleased with this purchase."
"This is a sweet surprise in the flower bed and easy to dry for dried flowers. Takes very little care. I love its delicacy. #sweepstakes"
"I am so glad I tried these. They are blooming away even in 93 degree heat. They are lush and just the right height to fill in the bottom tier of a garden. I have them with echinacea and some tall sedums and they look great."
"Having never done business with High Country Gardens before, I was skeptical about mail order plants. I was waiting!! These plants were very well packed! On very good condition! I am most impressed!!!! Will definitely do further business with this company."
