Dry area mountain success

"Sweet William's seem to love the north Idaho mountains. These flowers took off in dense patches, especially in the areas that are slightly wetter in spring (slight depressions in our sandy soil, or part-shade areas near trees). They have since spread into the gravel and shale along the steep sides of our house, attracting hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. The flowers bloom for more than a month (late June until early August in our climate, last snow is typically in mid-June, there usually is no precipitation in July or August) and are fabulous, long-lasting cut flowers, with a sweet aroma."

Being a biannual look forward to next year.

"They came up but don't think they matured enough. Can't report until I see how they do next Spring and as a Biennial they not produce flowers yet. . . . TBD."

"I would like to know for sure if they are a perennial. They are so pretty if you put never colors together."
