Blueberry Bliss Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) has the deep blue color of a freshly picked berry. With plentiful, large, and generously ruffled flowers, Blueberry Bliss adds a classic blue accent, perfect for garden designs and cut flowers. Stunning sapphire tones complement the lighter shades of the mid-spring garden. A pollinator favorite, deer and rabbits stay away.

Description

(38-42" tall x 12-24" wide) 'Blueberry Bliss' Bearded Iris brings mid-spring awake with velvet flowers of indigo blue. Standing at 38-42" tall, 'Blueberry Bliss' offers prolific blooms, growing 3-4 branches, each bearing 8-10 buds with large flowers 6" across, for a long season of bloom. The fan-shaped linear foliage also adds dramatic interest to the garden all season long. Grow extra for stunning cut flowers. Lasting 3-7 days, harvest when buds have fully emerged and are showing color. A winner of the 2009 Merit Award, 'Blueberry Bliss' is easy-to-grow and resistant to deer and rabbits. Especially suited to bumblebees who use the beards as runways leading to nectar and pollen, it also attracts other native pollinators. Plant them in a sunny spot in garden soil that drains well. Keep soil moist as the plant establishes, thereafter it is a durable, reliable, drought-tolerant perennial. Naturalizes well for increasing flowers each year.

A win for southern gardens

Iris Makes the World Go-Round

"First off, thank you for asking me about my experience with your product. I've never had a flower seller follow up. To save time, I'll lump my comments on all my flowers into one. Here in north Texas iris are noted for needing little care. That's why we see them in old cemeteries and abandoned homes. When I purchase them, they never bloom the first season. It always takes the second season to flower. The ones I bought from you are in their first season. All the plants are hearty and full of life--green and growing, and looking forward to coming to the show next year.
