24-30" tall x 12-18" wide. The bright lilac-pink flowers of ‘Vivid’ Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana), each shaped like a snapdragon, open from the bottom of the flower spike to the top along all 4 sides of the stem. After flowering, they leave a round seed capsule behind. At a height of 2-3 feet, ‘Vivid’ fits perfectly with other late season bloomers such as aster, Rudbeckia, Asclepias, and Agastache, where its abundant pink flowers can harmonize with the golds, violets, and oranges of its neighbors. To keep ‘Vivid’ compact, cut it back by half in spring. Divide your plants in spring every year or two to keep clumps happy. Native to much of the US, Physostegia likes average well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Nice cut flowers, the dried seed heads are also interesting additions to a dried flower arrangement. It is called “obedient” plant because the flowers may be turned in any direction where they will stay put - at least temporarily.

"I purchased 3 of these plants early in the year. They arrive small and healthy. In one summer they have grown at least 2 feet tall and have bloomed all summer in the hot Texas sun. I have them in full sun. My daughter had bought one last year and I loved it! Her's came back, even after the unusually cold weather North Texas had last February. I bought the pink……. I'm going to purchase the white! The butterfly's and bees love them! I have cut them for vases in the house and out lasted the other cut flowers."
"Three plants ordered grew to be healthy. Deer started to nibble buds so I sprayed with deer repellent and even fenced with additional netting on all sides and tops of plants. Deer tore all fencing and netting away and progressed to eat budding parts of all three plants. I would not say these are deer resistant."
